I agree with your comments Tim. I am doing a CEH "accelerated" course this week
(finishing today). I have enjoyed it immensely. I admit that it is a difficult
course and there were some problems with parts of the course, but prior
experience in the field is pretty much assumed for a lot of things that are
covered in the course. (And yes, I have been in the IT Security field for over
4 years, but there is a lot of things even i don't know, as I have specialised
in a particular area of the field). The course isn't designed to teach you the
greatest and the newest of the tools that are available as they would become
out of date by the time the course is delivered. The course is designed to
teach you what you need to know in order to become a pen tester / ethical
hacker (How you define a pen tester / ethical hacker is up to you). After you
have done the course, it's up to you to find out about the different types of
tools that are available on the internet. There are many courses out there. If
you are looking for a course that would help you get a job...my advice is to
look at various job adverts and look at what type of qualifications that they
are asking for. Even email the company asking them why they want those skills
if you have to. Use that as a benchmark. I chose CEH because of the things it
covered and chose my provider because it was a residential. I am not going to
