Of course, and most apps (like Nessus and Nikto) have scripts for updating. But I believe we need to remind people of these facts when introducing them to bootable CDs, that is all.

And it can become a pain to do it after each boot. Booting off a USB drive with one of the linux distro would be sweet. I know people do it and I don't have the equipment to test it. The only USB drive I have is 256 and I have stuff on it..=)

Hi,

nowadays, many distibutions have own tools to easily update the packages. I think about "apt-get update/upgrade" for Debian, "yum" on Fedora...

You could probably in an easy way write a little script (maybe playing with sudo) to automate these updates and cron it.

As i'm not a Linux expert, take this just like a probable way.
