That would work but you could just as easily configure all the
workstations NOT to do the install (there is an app on the Microsoft
site that will prevent the install even if a computer does download
SP2). Then download the network install and do a manual install on a
few computers to run your tests on.

This way you have control over when the SP2 install happens and can
watch for conflicts during the install, if there are any.

If you find no issues with the software you use, you can do a roll out
on a wider scale either with the auto-update or continue to use the
network install you have downloaded.

Best Regards,
Keenen

Subject: worksations automatic updates

I have a solotion fot my It manager about updating the
pc's in the company. He says that he doesnt have much
time left to update them.

We can do like this:

There is a possibility to configure each workstation
to download and install the updates in another time.

We can schedule 5 pc's in the company (including my
pc). To download the updates and install them on
Sunday (for example).and schedule all the other pc's
to download and install the patches after 4 days. If
we see that the updates are doing something bad to the
machines we have 4 days to stop the updates from being
deployed to the rest of the company. I think we can do
it throw GPO.

What do u think about this solution ?

thanks
