I picked up the Kensington WiFi Finderfrom ThinkGeek
(http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/6247/) and haven't been
overly impressed. I "turned it on" and tried to detect a signal between my
airport and my powerbook and found that, even with it positioned in between
the two (with the distance being less than 10 feet) it only detected the
signal when I was actually actively passing packets between the two (i.e. it
only showed in the signal strength LEDs when I hit a Web page, rather than
just "passive traffic.") I guess it's good for airports/coffee shops/etc
where people are going to be doing a lot of active surfing. Still, it was
cheap *grin*
