Darwin ports is another alternative, and they have the latest version of
nmap available:

host:~ root# port info nmap
nmap 4.20, net/nmap (Variants: gtk2, no_ssl, no_pcre)
http://nmap.org/

Nmap is a utility for port scanning <snip>

Library Dependencies: libpcap, openssl, pcre, zlib
Platforms: darwin freebsd
Maintainers: opendarwin.org@darkart.com dluke@geeklair.net

If you don't have a compiler, port has an option for binary only mode:

- - -b binary-only mode (only build and install from binary archives,
ignores source, fails when no archive present, and does not
create/recreate binary archives from source) (only applies when archive
mode is enabled)

Having Xcode (the developer tools) isn't a horrible thing, it really
just gives you gcc/make etc.. on your mac and compiling most things
isn't too bad. However, I do like having packages available via darwin
ports.

Cheers,

Paul
