Packer testing

('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) I came across an article that introduced the concept of using packer software to hide an executable file in another file such as a jpg file. I want to try this out but am worried about downloading malicious files disguised as packers. Can anyone recommend a legit/safe packer that I can use for my testing purpose? Thanks.
