Hi Reed,

You can read the binary data contained within the client-side-cached
(CSC) folder. You will need the CSCCM.exe command line tool which can be
found in the Windows 2003 resource kit at MS's site. Below is the syntax
you will need to run at the command prompt which will ultimately parse
the binary data and place all the files in the target's path.

 csccmd /extract:\\server\share /Target:path /Recurse

Hope this was helpful.

Subject: Client-Side Caching - Windows XP

Under the scenario of retrieving the contents of a stolen laptop, I have
been tasked with extracting the contents of the client-side caching
directory under Windows. The organization is syncing files between the
user's network drive and the 'My Documents' folder on the local device.
In offline mode, the files are cached in a binary format. I can grab the
directory (C:\WINNT\CSC\, as an example) by mounting the volume under
BackTrack but from there I am coming up short. Is there a way to read
the binary data contained in this directory to surmise the contents of
the offline files? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
in advance!
