Hi all
Davide regarding your question ; this is our explanation :
As of release 6.2, the OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server security has
been enforced introducing security by default mecanism.
This implies systematic password change for default accounts to avoid
default well known passwords to be present into the system. So this level
of assurance can be ensure for all new installations.
Concerning version upgrades, considering this process can be scheduled
automatically without human supervision, it is not possible to force
passwords change without breaking service continuity.
Our strong recommendation for all the installations before the R6.2 is the
security administrator MUST to change the default password by new passwords
according our password recommendations ( 8 alphanumeric characters at
mimimum).

Subject: Re: Official answer about Alcatel PBX testing
Hi,
we've pentested some Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise 6.0 and we found default
accounts/passwd (mtcl/mtcl, root/letacla).
Don't know if they were an upgrade to the old PABX4400 or fresh
installations...
Anyway, ALCATEL should strongly consider to implement a "start up"
procedure to force password changing for default accounts.
My 2 cents.

line of large PBX which happened in 2003 with the release of the successor
to the 4400: the OmniPCX Enterprise IP-PBX running on the Linux kernel. At
that time a major effort has been made on security aspects with a lot of
hardening being performed on the operating system (Linux), the run-time
environment and offered services, selection and configuration of
applications running on this platform.
