Dialback Circumvention

('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) I'm a junior security auditor for a network audit company and I'm wondering about dialback circumvention. Though i have audited modems that have the feature enabled i am actually more interested in how the technique could be applied to fax machines. I would think the same techniques that are used to circumvent dialback security features could be used to intercept faxes.

I have seen a few articles discussing the concept of dialback circumvention but none have gone into technical detail. Could someone please provide me provide me with some guidance as to what tools are used to perform a circumvention and maybe a whitepaper explaining the technique in detail.

Thanks in advance.
