Help!

We have HP-UX 11i connected to a EMC CX700 SAN.

Sometimes when we reboot or replace or update the firmware on a Cisco switch in our SAN fabric it causes the drive names to change in HP-UX.

So the names are something like c20t0d0, c22t0d0, c24t0d0, c26t0d0. After the switch change they are c28t0d0, c30t0d0, c32t0d0, c34t0d0. (This is just a made up example).

We can run ioscan and insf and powermt and get good paths to the new drives and then remove the old paths and reboot and it is ok….
Where is the problem? Where does the fix lie? How do we keep the drive names from changing?

  Thanks
  Tom
