Hi Tim,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. In future I know what I'm
supposed to do.
The problem was the permissions issue on the application (.i.e. SAP)
side and it was solved by the SAP consultants.
Lot of Admins worked on this problem and they couldn't figure anything
wrong as the lp log file was not reporting any errors.

Hello Linda,
I'm glad you resolved your problem, but it would be helpful if you would
do the following:
1. Post back to the list with the text "SUMMARY" pre-pended to your
original subject, as in "[HPADM} SUMMARY - Printing problem".
2. In that post, include a brief description of what fixed your
problem.
You see, all posts to this list are placed in an archive that can be
searched. It is therefore extremely helpful both now and in the future
to post accurate summaries back to the list so that others may benefit
from your experience.
Warm Regards,
Jim

Subject: Printing problem
Hi Admins,
Our Superdome was recently rebooted due to some technical problems
experienced with the cluster configuration and ever since then we have
been experiencing problems with printers. The server hosts more than one
thousand printers and there seems to be a process that keeps on
disabling the printers. I have written a script to enable all the
printers (i.e. every minute) with problems, and that hasn't solved the
problem. When I do an lpstat -o on a particular print queue I will find
that the jobs are queuing. The following command "lpstat -t|grep
print_queuename" shows that the printer is enabled and is printing but
nothing comes out of the printer.
When I cd to /var/spool/lp/request/print_queuename and do a listing of
files I find that the submitted jobs just lie there without being
cleared. The printers hosted on the server are all network printers.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? I have bounced the
spooler several times without any luck.
Thanking you in advance.
