Thanks, This is very helpful. Is this only available via the seminar or
is it available via HP web site? I opened several tickets in regards to
DST 2007 with HP and this script was never mentioned. I find it
interesting that if find out about this from a forum and not HP.

Subject: [HPADM] Changes To Daylight Saving Time

All,

Last week, HP ran an on-line seminar regarding best practices for the
changes to Daylight Saving Time. As part of the seminar, HP supplied a
small script for obtaining a system's DST readiness. It runs on HP-UX,
Linux, and Tru64. It tests the OS readiness, Java readiness, and on
HP-UX supplies applications that could have aC++ issues. The software
was released under the Open Software License agreement and I checked
with my local HP representative and he verified that it was okay to
share the scripts with the user group.

The scripts ran as advertised on my HP-UX and Linux (Redhat/SuSE)
systems and, with a little tweaking, I was able to run them on our AIX
and Solaris systems as well.

This script brought to light a number of issues in our environment
including the fact that our RedHat servers were not ready to go! We had
applied the tztab patch but, on some of the servers, the patch did not
automatically copy the timezone information from
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/New_York to /etc/localtime! The issue,
according to a Red Hat faq is as follows:

A caveat of only updating tzdata is there is no built in mechanism to
update /etc/localtime to the latest timezone unless the
system is already running glibc-common version 2.3.2-95.40 or
greater.

A link to the full article is here:

Anyway, I found this script to be of great value so I wanted to pass it
on. Normally I would not include an attachment in a post, but it's very
small (24 KB) and since DST is less than two weeks away I thought it
important to get this to everyone as soon as possible. If this is a huge
breach in etiquette I apologize in advance.
