Thanks for the quick replies. There are a couple of different ways to
disable call in on the modem.
1. edit /etc/inittab and remove the getty entries for all but the
console
2. Do a CTRL-B to get into the GSP and then use the ER command to
enable/disable remote access via the modem. The setting LOCKED_OUT will
disable all dial in access
3. Go into the modem itself using CU, then disable auto answer with
ATSO=0 and AT&W to write the configuration.

Subject: Modem question
Hi All,
How do I turn off incoming modem access on a server? I can't remember
how we did this and I can't find anything in the man pages on it,
probably not looking for the right thing. It has been so long since I
used a modem for anything I have deleted all this info from my brain.
The hardware in question is an HP rp 2430 with HP-UX 11.0 I want the
server to be able to dial out to hp for ISEE, but I don't want anyone to
be able to dial in on it unless I know about it, at which point I will
enable incoming access.
Thanks in advance -
