/etc/system and reboot the system.
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=536870912
I still do not get the anwser about 'how to display the current kernel
setting value".

The following is the responce from Jeff Lightner:
Coincidentally someone in the Netbackup mailing list just posted her system
file from a Solaris 9 box. I suspect similar settings would help OMNI back
though I've never used it. Unfortunately sun (at least through version 8)
didn't have a full tool like SAM. It did have Admintool and I don't recall
the things that will get to. On Sun you don't recompile the kernel when
you change parameters as you do on HP-UX. Just adding to /etc/system and
rebooting makes them take effect. It's been a couple of years since I
worked on Sun so do this at your own risk.
Here are my current Solaris /etc/system parameters:
