The MSA will work fine as an external bunch of disks.
The SmartArray will NOT work. This card was designed for PCs and unless
HP sells a PCI card that specifically states "HP-UX supported" it is never
going to work (no driver). Here are the product specs:
The SmartArray cards are for Compaq Proliant servers (ONLY)
and inside the Proliant boxes, you can run:
SCO Unix 5.0x, Microsoft Windows 2000 / NT4.0, Novell NetWare 5.x, UnixWare
7.1.1,
Novell NetWare 6, Red Hat Linux 7.2, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7, Red Hat
Linux 7.3,
Red Hat Linux 8.0, Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1, UnitedLinux 1.0,
Microsoft Windows
Server 2003, UnixWare 7.1.3, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1
but not HP-UX. You can safely assume that NO PCI cards are supported
unless specifically stated for the card or in the HP-UX specifications for
your server.
