[HPADM] No prompt at login

All,
We´ve been expecting problems at login on HPUX 11.00, it mounts
home directories via NFS, and at login the sistem hangs, except from root
that has a local .sh_history .
The only solution I´ve find was add to .profile these lines.

HISTFILE=/tmp/.$LOGNAME.histfile
export HISFILE

Have you got any idea on how to solve this completely?
