I am having a problem which began with a load of patches to a virtual
partition. Following the patch install (which appeared to run fine) the
system went into an infinite boot cycle. The system begins booting, gets to
the /sbin/init.d/vparinit in run level 1 and starts rebooting again. I have
taken down both partitions, rebooted the machine w/out partitions, started
the vpars up manually. It all ends up the same with the first vpar working
fine, the 2nd looping in the boot cycle. I can get the system up using the
vmunix.prev. However, if I attempt to shutdown and reboot the same cycle
happens. Moving vmunix to vmunix.prev doesn't work either.
I have managed to restore the /stand directory from before the whole
problem started. Can I move this directory in place of what is currently
there and attempt a reboot? My concern is regarding the patches which have
been installed since that time. I do not care if I need to reinstall the
patches, I just don't want the system to end up in a state I am unable to
recover from as this is a production system.
Any suggestions appreciated...
