Dear all,
I'm new to HP-UX (used Alpha's before) and am now installing my first HP-UX
Itanium machine. It has 2 x 36 GB in the main box + an MSA30 with 7 x 146 GB.
My question is: what would be a reasonable disk layout for 'the system'.
I would put the 2 36 GB disks in a MirrorDisk setup for reliability.
This leaves me 36 GB for 'system stuff'.
My suggestion would be:
/ on the 36 GB
/stand idem
/tmp idem
/home Disk array (MSA30)
/opt ???
/usr ???
/var ???
What about swap ? Is it 'wise' to put swap on a MirrorDisk cluster (since it
always has to be copied twice ???).
What size of swap sounds reasonable ? We have 4 GB RAM ? In the early
alpha-days, we were told to have swap = 3 x RAM, that would mean about 12 GB
???
Thanks in advance...
Marc
