Hi Admins,

Yesterday I've upgraded a Dataprotector 5.0 cell running on HP-UX 11i to
version 5.5. Everything went smooth until I tried to upgrade the clients
using the "xomni" GUI. As soon as I tried to access a client using the
options under the righthand mouse button "xomni" (in reality the program
/opt/omni/gui/bin/xomni_manager) crashed. When the GUI ran on a Windows XP
system the crash took out the X-server on the PC as well (Hummingbird
Exceed 9).

Some experimentation led to the conclution that the "WindU" configuration
file (/opt/omni/gui/WindU) is the cause of the problem. After I renamed all
instances of this file (it also gets installed in the home dir of the
users) "xomni" ran as expected.

It looks like the "WindU" file that has been installed with the upgrade
(dated July 6 2004) isn't a generic template. There are references in the
printer configuration to "bristol" (e.g.: bristol-pcl=rsh bristol lp -d
hplj -t$XPDOCNAME ) that leads me to suspect that this file has escaped
from the HP research labs at Bristol :-)

It looks like the "WindU" file isn't really neccesary, but I would like to
know if a wrong file is supplied or if there is some other problem with the
installation before we upgrade our second cell.

Thanks,

Paul van Westerlaak
