The solution was that the machine was resolving the name oriana incorrectly to
the ip address that it has outside the firewall. What I did was make some
the right changes to the /etc/resolv.conf file. Silly me!!

At the sudgestion of a number of posters on this list I have stopped and
started the swagentd, without successbut I do get the following message when
I restart the swagentd.
# /sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
The swagentd daemon is stopped.
# /sbin/init.d/swagentd start
Running /usr/lib/sw/mx/configure to reset hostname.

Is it the case that the machine is behind a firewall the with only ssh being
allowed to talk to the outside world, a possible cause of the problem.
I have had a look at my /etc/hosts , /etc/resolv.conf and the /etc/routes
file and everything appears to be in order.
