To setup the RX4640 was a lot easier than expected. It is just different. I
was impressed with EFI capabilities.
HP-UX does provide multipathbut not load balancing like Tru64 does at the
moment . To do this You will need to have Securpath for EVA/EMA storage and
Power Path and the like for EMC. The other alternative is to use pvlinks for
LVM or Veritas VxVm When Trucluster and
Compilers
Hp some excelent doco on the differences between the two systems and this can

All in all from what I have seen thus far HP-UX was lot better than I expected
(I was fearing that it was going to be like Solaris with all its warts). For
me it is along as you are aware that you are dealing with a System V unix
things wont be that hard to pick up.

Hi all
With in the next week we will be receiving our first RX4640 running 11iv2.
Coming from an Alpha environment( Tru64 5.1a/b). I would be interested to
know any Alpha sysadmins who have gone down this same path and have you come
across any got-yas that are not listed in the manuals. in the following
areas.
1. boot prompt. From previous IA64 machines I have seen the boot firmware
appears to be like arc which was used to boot NT on an alpha
2. Fibre-channel. I am aware that as yet hp-ux doesnt multipath IO and what
software do most HP-UX sys-admins use to provide this availability. and how
does the handle a loss of a path
3. Compilers I have heard mutterings that the HPUX compiler suite are far
more stricter than DEC/Compaq compilers on the alpha.
