Hello group:
I want to thank Paul Andrews and Steve Hamilton for pointing me to the
/etc/default/security file (man security).
Once created and the entry ABORT_LOGIN_ON_MISSING_HOMEDIR installed the
user no longer is sent to "/" home.
Thank everyone who responded, my issue has been resolved.

Original post:
I'm using NIS to manage user accounts on 15 HP/UX 11.11 servers.
Although all users are managed in NIS I do not want them logging onto a host
On which they have no $HOME directory. Currently any user in the NIS map
which happens
to telnet to the wrong host is logged with "/" set as their home.
Unable to change directory to "/home/nistest"
Logging in with home = "/".
Please wait...checking for disk quotas
Even though they can not create, change or do much damage they can see and
list files etc.
How do I restrict a NIS user log on to only the hosts on which they have
home directories and abort?
Any logon to others.
