All,
I am trying to build GNU grep and GNU libtool on an HPUX 11i system. Both
fail horribly. Any tips on how to get this to work would be greatly
appreciated.
I have the HP C/ANSI C Compiler (B.11.11.04) installed. Also I have CC
defined and exported as "cc -DAportable -Ae".
GNU grep 2.5: The configure runs fine (at least it doesn't give error
messages), but make gives:
cc: "gettextP.h", line 67: error 1000: Unexpected symbol: "SWAP".
cc: panic 2017: Cannot recover from earlier errors, terminating.
make[2]: *** [intl-compat.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mydir/grep-2.5/intl'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mydir/grep-2.5'
make: *** [all] Error 2
I have tried other values for CC or CFLAGS, but all with the same result.
GNU libtool 1.5.4: Configure gives
libtool.m4: error: problem compiling CXX test program
twice. make fails horrible with messages like:
cc: "ltdl.c", line 3726: warning 604: Pointers are not
assignment-compatible.
cc: "ltdl.c", line 3726: warning 563: Argument #4 is not the correct
type.
I am at my wits' end. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Kees Couprie
