I'll follow this suggestion :
1) Increase size of SGA for Oracle Bill Hassell
2) Create Indexes after completion of import Gustavo Fabian Patles
Also useful to approach the problem:
x make sure that the archivelog mode is *not* turend on during import?

Paul, another thing you can do is not create index.
You have an option for not create index and generate a file with all of the
index.
When you finish the import you can create your indexes from this file.

Hello admins,
Recently we updated our System from HP-UX 10.20,32bit/ORACLE 7.3.3 32bit to
HP-UX 11.00,64bit/ORACLE 8.1.7 32bit on a HP D370 Server. This is the
highest possible release allowed by the main application which is also
compatible with our hp rp5470 server.
The ORACLE import from RP5470 to D370 takes 25% more time then it
previously took, and we need to do this every night.
We also increased FS blocksize to 4096 and init.ora parameter
db_block_size to 8192.
We moved the buffer-parameter from imp to buffer=16384.
Any ideas ?
