[HPADM] dd question

1. I need to transfer data from a DDS2 tape to a 8mm tape. My thought was to dd the tape to a file and ftp the file to a server with a 8mm tape and dd the file back to tape. Will this work?

2. I have started a dd from tape using bs=1024k but it's taking a long time (about 4 hours for 2.5GB so far). Should I be using a larger block size for the dd? If so what would be the suggested block size to use?
