Folks,
I have a question about cost for A-Class series boxes. I came into a
company where I inherited 4 A-500 (550 mhz processors) an L-2000 (440 mhz
processors) and a few other boxes. We are currently looking at reducing
some cost structure, so I went back and pulled the old PO's for the 4 A500's
and the L2000. What I found blew my mind. The L-2000 was ~$62k, and that
included a 1/9 Tape Library. Each A500 was ~$70k. L2000 was less then each
A500.
My question is, are A500's that expensive? I find it hard to believe that
they are, especially since their isn't any scalability to them.
Cheers,
Jim
