changing
The instance number is the order in which each new device is first seen by
the kernel. In the simplest form, you can delete the device and device files
using rmsf -H, then add the device back using insf -i 0 -H hardware_path and
so on. Do this without rebooting and then check the instance numbers again.
NOTE: always use the -k option in ioscn to speed things up.

Save as /stand/infile. Save original configurations. $ cp /stand/ioconfig /stand/ioconfig.sav $ cp /etc/ioconfig /etc/ioconfig.sav Execute ioinit $ cd /stand $ /sbin/ioinit -f infile -r The -r will immediately reboot the machine. Sometimes, the server will NOT boot up. The server will stop at the 'ioinitrc' prompt. 1. Execute ioinit -c (ioinitrc) /sbin/ioinit -c 2. After a few seconds, read in the new infile. (ioinitrc) /sbin/ioinit -f /stand/infile -r -----Original Message----- From: Stuart Whitby [mailto:swhitby@legato.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 10:56 PM To: Gupta, Jatinder P (Jatinder) Subject: Re: [HPADM] Instance number of ctl ( controller ) is changing Without any more information, I guess that this is a fibre based controller. Set persistent bindings on the switch, if that's the case. Cheers, Stuart. Gupta, Jatinder P (Jatinder) wrote: > Hi All, > > I have a D380 machine.
