[HPADM] Summary: vxupgrade problems

Greetings,

Thanks for replies from:

Mike Blanchette
Jay Duncan
John Kingsland
Stéphane Lachapelle
Richard Wright

The original question is at the end. Most responses were fuser and
lsof. These did not return a process. I decided to see if I could
unmount the file system and I could. I couldn't remount it until I did
a full fsck on it though. After it was remounted, the vxupgrade worked
fine.

I believe the problem probably stemmed from an incident a couple of
weeks back were some EMC disks were temporarily removed from access to
the server. Access was re-added shortly after and everything appeared
to be fine. All disks could be diskinfo'd/pvdisplayed, etc.

Thanks for the replies and help,

Jeff

Original post:

Greetings,

I have some servers running 11.00 that I recently upgraded to OnLineJFS
3.3. I have upgraded all but one file system to layout4. I get the
following message:

#ROOT deere $ vxupgrade /mnt/sso
/mnt/sso: vxfs file system version 3 layout
#ROOT deere $ vxupgrade -n 4 /mnt/sso
vxfs vxupgrade: cannot upgrade /dev/vg01/rsso - Device busy
#ROOT deere $

I've looked for pv/vg/lv* or SAM commands that may be running and
nothing is. A vgdisplay -v shows everything active/available/synced.
How can I find out what it thinks is making it busy?

Thanks,

Jeff Cleverley
