I am going to try and run make_tape_recovery for the first time (I know
shame on me for not doing it before now). Can I do this while users are on
the system or do all processes need to be stopped? Any other tips you might
suggest will be welcome as well.
>From reading some archives and forums I am going to run the following
command:
/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn
I "assume" should my root disk(s) crash, using this tape will prevent me
from having to do a cold install. Am I correct? Also, I assume should any
other disk in some other VG fail I would be stuck doing a normal recovery
from my nightly backups.
Help shed some light.
Sincerely
Roger Realsen
