Thanks again to everybody, after posting my summary, I received a few more
responses which contained some very useful information. Including a response
from Bill Hassell, and as you know 'when he talks, UNIX admins listen'! I
also got responses from Jim Turner and V.T. Mueller.....Thanks a bunch!!!
Here are their responses.
Bill Hassell:

> path of a box
> from the command line?
>
> Answer: setboot command without any options will do the job
> just fine.
Bill: Correct.
> Question #2: Shouldn't my alternate boot path be set to the
> path of the
> mirror of the primary boot disk?
>
> Answer: Yes, but it has to be set manually.
Bill: Not true. Use the command: man setboot
Bill: You can change primary *and* alternate boot paths from the command
line. But wait! There's a lot more. You need to set autoboot *and*
autosearch (use setboot). That way, a broken primary will cause a
search for the other bootable disk and bootup. And the last step
is that the bootstring for the alternate boot disk. Since mirroring
requires at least 50% + 1 (quorum) disks to be working, a simple 2
disk mirror will fail to boot as quorum has failed. So the standard
boot string (hpux) must be changed to hpux -lq on the alternate disk.
Bill
V.T. Mueller:
But the more interesting output comes from 'lvlnboot -v', especially if
you have mirrordisk/ux and need to verify its' setup.
Cheers,
vt
