Black Whole is a data security
utility for protecting private or sensitive data held on laptop
PCs. The main threat to a company of losing a laptop is the cost
of sensitive data falling into the wrong hands. Black Whole will
withstand a prolonged and determined attack from a well-equipped
hacker in a solution that is secure, usable and manageable.
In everyday use, Black Whole is transparent -
once logged in, there is nothing for the user to remember. There
are two lines of protection: a secure single sign-on, so only
authorised users have access, and folder encryption. Files encrypted
on the hard drive are decrypted on demand and on-the-fly for authorised
users. The system manager selects how much or how little of the
hard drive is to be encrypted in a one-off command incorporated
into Windows Explorer or My Computer, and administration is through
the standard Windows Control Panel.
There is also a suite of management tools suitable
for managing Black Whole on a large population of laptops.
