THE BUSINESS CONTINUITY INSTITUTE
The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) was established in 1994 to provide opportunities to obtain guidance and support from fellow professionals. The Institute provides an internationally recognised status in relation to the individuals experience as a continuity practitioner. The BCI has over 840 members in 24 countries. The wider role of the BCI is to promote the highest standards of professional competence and commercial ethics in the provision and maintenance of business continuity planning and services. THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE BCI To promote the art and science of business continuity management To define the professional competencies expected of business continuity professionals. To provide an internationally recognised Certification scheme for business continuity managers, practitioners and consultants. To provide a programme of Continuous Professional Development to enable members to maintain their professional competencies. To provide and maintain a Code of Practice and Ethics applicable to the supply of business continuity services or consultancy, whether by suppliers or by staff acting on behalf of an organisation. To establish a membership which can be relied upon by employers and purchasers of services to undertake assignments with professional competence and integrity. To encourage the growth and provision of services to support the membership in their endeavours to meet and maintain the defined professional standards.
