Protect is a software security product developed for the protection of confidential and sensitive data. Data protection functions of Protect are based on efficient, quality file encryption, which is implemented directly on the Windows file system level (95,98,NT). Deep integration into the operating system enables a high level of security to be attained, as well as fast access to the encrypted data. It also brings intuitive and hassle-free work to the user , because its functions are controlled in the same way as any other functions of Windows. Protect extends the user interface of the operating system of the security function and it becomes an integral part of it.

Protect is integrated on the file system level and the user interface of Protect flows with the environment of the actual operating system. This world- unique technology of encrypting files on-line provides the protection of confidential data for its entire existence.

Protected files are always stored on disk in encrypted form, from the moment they are created until they are erased, and even while the user is working with them. When working with encrypted data on a network, the data is always transferred in encrypted form and encryption and decryption are carried out only locally and at the station, which requested the encrypted data.

Protect offers a choice of encryption algorithms: DECROS's own WinCros and WinCros II algorithms and the public algorithm CAST (others can be implemented on demand). These algorithms are optimized for 32-bit environments, which further enhances their speed. Protect was awarded with european IT prize in 1998.
