Trend Virus Control System
(VCS) is a Web-based management console that configures, monitors,
and maintains server antivirus programs from a single point, regardless
of network complexity, server location or platform.
The console supports Navigator and IE using ActiveX
and Java, providing a platform-independent interface accessible
from anywhere. VCS lets administrators group servers into logical
configurations, enabling appropriate protection levels to be delivered
to different groups. This allows for simultaneous configuration
and update deployment from a single point, remote or local, and
ensures consistent protection.
Trend VCS includes a central repository that
gives a precise picture of what virus incidents have occurred
on the network. Activity can be tracked over time, highlighting
network vulnerability and incident patterns, to help administrators
enforce antivirus policies. This information is stored in an LDAP
server if one is available, otherwise Trend's own database can
be substituted without loss of functionality.
Agents are automatically deployed via HTTP to
establish communication between the central console and antivirus
products on the network. VCS establishes a real-time communication
link to configure and update virus protection, using secure "push"
technology.
Trend VCS notifies administrators of virus events
via SNMP trap, e-mail, or NT event logging. If unusual virus activity
patterns are detected, a special alert is sent via pager and/or
e-mail. The default threshold is 1,000 virus events recorded across
the network in an hour but can be customized.
In addition to Trend products, VCS allows administrators
to view server-based antivirus products from Symantec, Network
Associates, Command/DataFellows, and Computer Associates.

Features:
|
- Allows uniform, remote access from a single
console to most anti-virus programs installed on the network
- Eliminates the need for platform-specific computer
skills when administering the variety of anti-virus programs
often found on the network
- Provides network-wide virus statistics and
analysis
- Allows the automatic, single-point update of
virus pattern files for most Trend software
- Complies fully with the emerging LDAP standards,
and includes the option to use existing LDAP directory service
- Installs on an NT server in minutes, then deploys
Agents that register every anti-virus product detected on the
network
- Uses "push" technology for Agent
installation, configuration changes, and virus pattern updates
- Saves time and money in the administration
of anti-virus products - including most Trend solutions and
third-party products
- Interactive and event-driven communication
minimizes network traffic
- Helps administrators to enforce an enterprise-wide
virus protection policy
