| Using ServerProtect to defend
NetWare or NT servers against virus infection is simplicity itself.
You can install and manage multiple servers and domains from a single
console, configure all servers in the same domain concurrently,
and generate integrated virus incident reports from all servers.
Additionally, ServerProtect lets you enhance domain security through
a rigorous password protection program.
ServerProtect NT's standard RPC protocol enables
secure management of the entire network from one console. Remote
management capabilities include:
- Initiate scanning and cleaning of remote servers
- Emergency warning notification
- Installation and configuration
- Virus log reporting
ServerProtect for NetWare provides these capabilities
through NetWare specific tools.
At the heart of ServerProtect is Trend's ICSA-certified
virus detection technology. Running in real time, the product
monitors virus-like behavior to detect and remove known viruses
and to isolate unknown viruses; patent-pending MacroTrapTM detects
known and unknown macro viruses. Multi-layer recursive compressed
file scanning detects viruses inside files compressed with most
common algorithms.
Any virus scanner is only as effective as its
most recent update. ServerProtect automatically downloads new
virus patterns and distributes them to all servers in the same
domain whenever the designated server's pattern files are updated.
ServerProtect lets administrators preschedule
scans and specify:
- Which files / drives / directories to scan
- Time and day of scan
- Action to be taken on detection of a virus
Virus detection automatically triggers notification
to the system administrator via SNMP, pager, e-mail messages,
or Windows pop-up. Comprehensive log reports make tracking and
managing virus incidents simple.
