ScanMail for Lotus Notes scans
the main entry points for viruses and other malicious code in a
Notes environment - mail attachments, database access, and database
replication - in real time. It's multi-threaded for fast performance,
scans inside 20 compression formats, and automatically updates itself
from Trend's web site.
ScanMail first scans mailboxes and databases
to root out any old infections. Thereafter, all incoming mail
is scanned at the router, so mails with multiple recipients are
scanned only once. E-mails with clean attachments are given a
'safe stamp'; infected files generate a customizable alert message
to the administrator, sender and recipient. They are cleaned automatically
and sent on to the intended recipients.
ScanMail monitors open/close events on the database,
scanning all modified data immediately before the document is
closed. Administrators can specify which databases are to be scanned,
and users are prevented from overwriting a clean document with
an infected version.
ScanMail's configuration interface is fully integrated
with Notes so it's intuitive for users. It can be configured to
respond to infections in different ways:
- Alert the administrator;
- Isolate the file for later action;
- Delete the file.
Any workstation attached to a Notes server can
be used to download and distribute virus pattern updates and consolidate
virus log reports from multiple Notes servers.
ScanMail maintains a comprehensive and robust
virus incident activity log in Notes database format, which may
be viewed by:
- Incident date
- User name
- Virus name
- Service type
- Action taken
