InterScan eManager is a set of
Internet e-mail controls designed to protect intellectual property,
enhance employee productivity and improve network traffic flow;
the product plugs directly into InterScan VirusWall NT. eManager
uses Trend's award-winning virus scanning technology to scan e-mail
content for particular keywords, domains and e-mail addresses. The
product offers:
- A rule-based spam filter that allows eManager
to block junk mail before it reaches a company's mail server.
The spam filter includes both a self-updating list of common
spam sources and a customizable list of sources, checking message
headers for routing domain, inbound/outbound status and message
size, and the message body for designated keywords and phrases.
- A content filter that can sift through messages
to prevent distribution of confidential or inappropriate information
inside or outside the enterprise. Filter profiles are based
on keyword lists, Boolean keyword combinations, and synonyms.
Blocked e-mail can be deleted, quarantined or archived.
- A rule-based e-mail manager designed to conserve
network bandwidth by managing the delivery time of e-mail with
large attachments. The software checks message headers for routing
domain, inbound/outbound status and message size, then reschedules
message delivery as appropriate to off-peak hours.
In the workplace, e-mail has the potential to
become the source of time-wasting junk mail or personal correspondence
and the distribution of confidential or inappropriate information
can raise serious legal issues. eManager is policy-based, so different
filters can be applied to different groups at different times,
enabling MIS to enforce policy centrally.
