Mine is similar too, but I did not limit mine to class H or type PERM:

        1 errnotify:
      2 en_pid = 0
      3 en_name = "syslog"
      4 en_persistenceflg = 1
      5 en_label = ""
      6 en_crcid = 0
      7 en_class = ""
      8 en_type = ""
      9 en_alertflg = ""
     10 en_resource = ""
     11 en_rtype = ""
     12 en_rclass = ""
     13 en_method = "/usr/local/pacificare/email_errlog $1"
     14

I use this to send emails after email_errlog has filtered.

To test, use errlogger and then tail /var/adm/syslog.

Here is mine. I can test this by creating permanent error. It appears to me,
you're missing a few values in your errnotify entry?

errnotify:
        en_pid = 0
        en_name = "perm"
        en_persistenceflg = 1
        en_label = ""
        en_crcid = 0
        en_class = "H"
        en_type = "PERM"
        en_alertflg = ""
        en_resource = ""
        en_rtype = ""
        en_rclass = ""
        en_symptom = ""
        en_method = "errpt -a -l $1 > /var/adm/ras/errlog.out"

Subject: how to verify error log direction to syslog

Dear all,

I need to direct error log messages to syslog.

AIX 4.3.3.10

this is what I did:

1. created file /tmp/syslog.add with the following
   contents

   errnotify:
           en_name = "syslog1"
           en_persistenceflg = 1
           en_method = "logger Msg from Error Log:
`errpt -l $1 | grep -v 'ERROR_ID TIMESTAMP'`"

2. odmadd /tmp/syslog.add

3. odmget -q"en_name = 'syslog1'" errnotify

4. errlogger test message from error log

Are these all I need to do? if yes, how to verify the
test message has gone to syslog?

Thanks a lot!

Bill
