It may not be a bad idea, but it's not strictly necessary.
Once you've done that, (or not) it's just rmdev -dl pdisk5
If the disk failed whilst in use there may still be data in the cache. If
that's the case,
you'll get loads of errors about possible performance degradation. The SRN
for that will
take you to the procedure to clear it out, though, so it's not really a big
deal.
