In our case, we do this:

    Synchronize
    Split
    Importvg
    varyonovg
    Mount filesystems
    Perform our backup
    Unmount filesystems
    Exportvg
    Varyoffvg

Then on the next day, we repeat.

Bill,

I've run a couple of tests, and I didn't need to varyonvg after I completed
the importvg. Am I overlooking something?

Thanks,
