AIX 5.1 64bit Mode & SSA

Fellow List Denizens:

I have the following configuration:

* H70 Server running AIX 5.1, ML 4
* System has two F/C 6215 IBM SSA Enhanced RAID Adapters (Type 4N)
* Two 7133-020 DASD drawers with 32 9.1 GB drives (Drive Type DGHC) [NO RAID
5 - just JBOD]

With the server running a 32-bit kernel, all of this excitement is usable.
When I switch to a 64-bit kernel and re-IPL the system, the SSA adapters
come up in a Defined state and all of the disks disappear, much to the
chagrin of the users (and, I guess, me too). Per the "microcode download
pages", I have the latest and greatest microcode on the adapters and disks
and the service levels for the various and sundry AIX filesets are at or
beyond those listed in the SSA microcode download pages. Looking on IBM's
website and in the list archives, I see no explicit prohibition against this
configuration and I see items that involve SSA and 64-bit configurations, so
I know, in general, SSA is certainly supported in 64-bit mode. I guess I am
now beginning to wonder whether it is the 4N adapters that aren't supported
in 64-bit mode. Any and all wisdom / insight would be greatly appreciated.
TIA.
