alog -t boot -o does not show any errors but I will look in other logs
also. Thanks!

Should be a entry in your boot logs or A logs might give you a clue.

You could send the stderr and stdout to an outfile, to get clues as to
why its not starting.

dsmcad:2:once:/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmcad >> /tmp/dsmcd.out
2>&1

Then run 'init -q', to re-read the inittab file.

Subject: Problems with inittab

I was wondering...after upgrading to AIX 5.1 has anyone had any issues
with inittab entries executing? We recently upgraded the server to AIX
5.1 ML05 and ever since then inittab does not appear to be able to start
our dsmc sched process, load kernel extensions for oracle, etc. The
system boots up fine and all the entries in inittab meet syntax
requirements. Any ideas?

-rw------- 1 root system 3494 Jan 26 22:38 /etc/inittab

Sample entries:

adsm:2:respawn:/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc sched > /dev/null 2>&1
# ADSM Scheduler
dsmcad:2:once:/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmcad # ADSM Web Client
orapw:2:wait:/etc/loadext -l /etc/pw-syscall
orakstat:2:wait:/etc/loadext -l /etc/ora_kstat
