i've got 3 hosts on my 500, but they are all connected via the minihubs, not switches. We can't tell how the system works with hba failure, because a pseries host connected via a single path is "unsupported". Which in this case, means if you run hot_add or cfgmgr, the pseries system reboots. fun in production :)
