Make sure you execute the bosboot -ad command on the tape device; this will
make the tape bootable. This should be executed before the dd commands.

Subject: do mksysb using remote host's tape driver

Two hosts ; A and B
A has an internal tape driver, while B not.
In order to do mksysb for B, the following commands could be executed: B#
mknod /tmp/rootbuf.fifo d A# rsh B dd if=/tmp/rootbuf.fifo | dd of=/dev/rmt0
B# smitty mksysb (select "/tmp/rootbuf" as the backup device)

But i did not know whether this mksysb tape was bootable .
Any one knows ?
