Kenneth,

I just installed C for AIX 6.0 this week on 5.2 and just launched java
with no problems. Verify that you have these filesets installed on the
system:

        xlC.rte
        xlC.aix52.rte

    Command: lslpp -L xlC*

Also, verify the integrity of your LPP products:
    Command: lppchk -v

Subject: JAVA issues with AIX 5.2 with xlC installed

We are having difficulty getting Java to run correctly on AIX 5.2, we are
getting the following error when running the Java command.

law-test # java
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program java because of the following errors:
0509-150 Dependent module libC.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
        0509-022 Cannot load module libC.a(shr.o).
0509-026 System error: A file or directory in the path name does not
exist.

The libC.a file exists, but Java doesn't seem to be able to locate it. Is
this an environment error or should we be looking at a patch. We have C for
AIX 6.0 installed on the box as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
