The only reason I knew this is that we just did a SAP/BW upgrade and ran
across the same issue. I stuffed the fix into the back of my brain 'cause
it seemed like a good thing to remember.

Hi Bill,

Wanted to thank you for your response. I don't have the Instructions, the
SAP admin has them in Richmond VA, and I am here in Maine. When you sent
the reply I got an idea. I had mentioned using "java" instead of "jre"
but he was not going to deviate from the instructions. I created a link in
/usr/bin and linked "jre" to /usr/java131/bin/java and had him try it.
He wrote back saying "he did not know what I did but I fixed it".

I have been dealing with this issue off and on for a couple of days.

Thanks again Bill, I truly appreciate it.

John

Look on the next page of the SAP doc. There is a note that says
"Substitute 'Java' for jre on some systems"

Hi All,

Sort of off topic I think. I have an application "SAP" that requires Java
1.3.1 for the installation GUI. However, the instructions say to run the
following command.

" jre -cp /usr/sap/put/ua/ua.jar UaServer " The user environment has the
"JAVA_HOME" variable set to "/usr/java131" The command fails as "jre"
can't be found. I have searched all filesystems for a "jre" executable. I
have found the "jre" directory. I look at the old SAP system that has
"1.1.8" loaded on it and it does have a "jre" executable. I have not had
allot of experience with Java, so I was writing to see if anyone has had
problems when going to "Java 1.3.1" from an older version. I have asked
the SAP admin to check with SAP to see if this is an error in the
documentation.

Thanks In Advance.
John
