The filesystem that you are creating the filename.tar file in is being
filled up when you make the tar file. You either need to grow that
filesystem (chfs -a size=+### /filesystem) or create it someplace with
enough room for house it.

Subject: tar command; reaches end of file

I would like some help with the tar command. I want to tar a directory to a
file and not to tape. I get the error "tar: 0511-194 Reached end-of-file
before expected." The command I use is....

tar -cvf filename.tar -C /dir/sub .

Its a large directory with a total combined filesize over a Gig. Should I
be using the -u or -r command? How would I format this statement?

Thanks

Frank
