In Smitty ethernet --> Change / Show Characteristics of an Ethernet Adapter

"Apply change to DATABASE only" make it equal to yes.

Which really only invokes the -P command the ultimate chdev command....
which:

-P Changes the device's characteristics permanently in the Customized
Devices
object class without actually changing the device. This is useful for
devices
that cannot be made unavailable and cannot be changed while in the available
state. The change can be made to the database with the -P flag. By
restarting
the system, the changes will be applied to the device. This flag cannot be
used
with the -T flag.

Subject: Changing auto-Negotiate settings

Hi All ,

Is there a way to change Auto-negotiate to 100Mbps without loosing telnet
session/network connectivity ? ( change settings now and reboot later
etc..)

The server is @remote location .

Thanks
SD .
