F50 and 6228 FC adapter

I am trying to install a 6228 FC adapter into an F50 running aix 4.3.3
ml 10. I installed the card into an open 64 bit pci expansion slot 2P.
When the machine boots it hangs with a code of E1DC. It appears that
the machine can't find the internal hard drives to boot from. When the
card is removed the machine boots fine. I put the 6228 into a P650 and
the card works fine.

Any ideas?
