Paul,
Check out the "chpass" utility which is included in the "aix.tools" fileset
available from the Bull site.
It allows you to change passwords from the command line.
Usage: chpass user passwd

Subject: Password setting program
Hello,
Somone must have written a password setting program for AIX out there.
Please share the source wealth. I don't want to re-invent the wheel. I
have to create 100 accounts with the same password
And AIX documentation on system programming for this task is less than
helpful (more like painful).
TIA
